What a College Degree Means to Employers

In all three of these article, the big question was whether or not going to college was actually worth it. Year ago, a bachelor's degree was optimum to have. Now, a higher degree is needed to just stand out. More and more students are going to college compared to what it used to be, so there is an overflow of incoming students, and an overflow of graduating students, which leads to a lack of available jobs. The articles suggest that all college is doing is leaving students with mounds of student loans to pay back, when really the majority of the "prospected to grow" jobs don't necessarily need any degree to do. The problem is the employers like to see their prospective employee has a degree, but most of the time it is not necessary. I do believe there are many jobs where a degree is not needed, but with the type of person I am, I want to better myself, and get as much education as I have the right to. I'm going to continue to go to college, and probably go on to get my master's degree, and that is all because of what I want. I understand there may not be a job waiting for me when I'm done, but I'm going to do my best to find one. I think college is a wonderful opportunity, and you can't take enough advantage of the amount of knowledge it entails.
